The Storyteller’s Guide to the Goldfields is series of audio tours that take you to the places and tell you the stories of the goldfields and Dja Dja Wurrung country in central Victoria – in and around Castlemaine and Bendigo.
Written, produced and presented by Castlemaine storyteller and musician, Jan ‘Yarn’ Wositzky, The Storyteller’s Guide to the Goldfields features many local identities, talented musicians and artists including actors John Flaus and Tammy McCarthy; artist Ben Laycock; the Guildford old timey musicians; balladeer Danny Spooner; songwriter historians Denis O’Hoy; Robyn Annear and Felix Cappy; Dja Dja Wurrung elders Uncle Rick Nelson and his late father, Brien Nelson; and an original musical score from folk legend Kate Burke and master Chinese musician Wang Zheng Ting.
Originally commissioned in 2010 and brought back to life through the Get Lost Quick program, the tours are available online for free from Monday December 7, 2020.
