An exhibition of paintings and mixed media by Jinette de Gooijer, which explores the idea of borders, boundaries and lines.

Crossing Borders is an exhibition of paintings and mixed media which explores the idea of borders, boundaries and lines that are crossed when people traverse physical, psychological and symbolic landscapes. The works illuminate the experiences of migration and seeking asylum and are a response to a performative ‘Slow Walk’ performed since 2016 in Bendigo and Melbourne, and overseas.

The show will comprise of 16 paintings (oil on canvas) completed over the period 2017-2023, and a photograph printed on lightweight cloth that can be installed suspended from the ceiling.

Host Details

This shared space between the Castlemaine Library and Phee Broadway Theatre is found in the heart of Castlemaine.

The venue has an open plan layout, has free Wi-Fi access and is available for theatre shows and special events. It is open to the public during the following times:

- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10am-5.30pm
- Thursdays 10am-7pm
- Saturdays 9.30am-2pm
- Sundays - closed

The Phee Broadway Theatre was named in honor of Phee Broadway OAM, the Festival Manager of the Castlemaine State Festival for the first 18 years of its life.
