Lox is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution of lidocaine in water for injection administered by the intravenous route as an anesthetic or as an anesthetic adjunct. It contains 1% lidocaine hydrochloride (50 mg/mL) without epinephrine and 0.5% lidocaine hydrochloride (25 mg/mL) with epinephrine.
The solutions are isotonic with a pH of approximately 6.0 and contain sodium chloride to adjust tonicity. Each sterile injection contains Lidocaine Hydrochloride, 50 mg; Sodium Chloride, seven mEq; and Water for Injection qs 1 mL.
Sodium Hydroxide and/or Hydrochloric Acid may have been added to adjust pH. Lox 2% Injection is a prescription medicine used to treat allergic reactions, including insect bites and stings, poison oak, ivy, or sumac (also known as poison oak), and some skin conditions.
