How many people in the audience name 4 queer film makers of colour from anywhere in the world?
Oliver Hermanus form South Africa is one queer poc film director I can think of.
As a QTPOC film maker, there aren’t many POC film makers out there because from my personal experience, QTPOC creatives aren’t broadcast as well as their white peers.
Systemic racism still exists whether white folks want to admit it or not. As a QTPOC, I’m more likely to be exploited for my skills and knowledge simply because I’m not white.
Lee Daniels – Monster’s Ball, Precious, the TV series Empire
